Past and Present

the Knights of Columbus is the world’s largest Catholic family fraternal service organization. Since its inception, the Knights of Columbus have spent much time working as leaders in parishes and the community to carry out God’s work and setting an example to others through volunteering, fundraising and other works of mercy and charity, as was Fr. McGivney’s vision.

The more than 1.9 million members puts into action our four principles of charity, unity, fraternity and

patriotism each and everyday. In 2015 alone, our charitable contributions have amounted to more than $175 million in donations and over 73.5 million hours of service.

The Knights work together as a united group, with the idea that we can do more good together than we can alone both in our parish and our community. As a brother in our fraternal order, we look after each other and our families, especially in our greatest time of need.

In the event that we lose a brother, our Order’s top-rated insurance program is a way we provide and protect loved ones left behind. In addition to supporting our families, our parish and our community, we believe that as Catholic men we need to have both a devotion to God and to country.

Many Knights are veterans in service to their country, but many others help support their country in many other ways. What we do as a group Catholic of men is witness to our Catholic faith through action.

The St. Isaac Jogues Council #10462 of the Knights of Columbus, was established on August 14, 1990 in Orlando, Florida. Our council started with a total of 42 charter members, 12 of which were new members who received degrees at Council #5958 and Council #5150, 19 transfers and 11 former members. Donald E. Roberge was acting as our first Grand Knight and lead our council within District 14 at that time. Since then, our council has been through various changes, which included a reorganization.

Under the leadership of Bob Riffle, Sr., Grand Knight at the time, the council was reestablished.Bob, along with several devoted members, worked diligently and sacrificed to make our council one of the most successful and active in central Florida.

Although Bob has since relocated, Council #10462 found it fitting that we name the golf tournament he founded back in 2009, one of our most successful fund raiser, in his honor.

The Knights of Columbus, Council #10462, is proud to be one of the most diverse councils. Our goal is to continue to serve our community, utilizing our skills and talents, as God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, teaches us. Our Catholic roots have created a strong faith-based foundation, which will allow us to continue to reach out to our parish, our community and anyone in need.

As we continue to grow, we hope you will consider joining our Council.

Sir Knight Carlos Lopez

Around August 2011, Sir Knight Carlos Lopez and a few other brother knights opened discussions on establishing an assembly for Fourth Degree members of St. Isaac Jogues Council #10462. Lopez, a Past Faithful Navigator for an assembly in South Florida, understood that many members wanted to regularly participate as members of the Color Guard and other events, but had limited options to choose from due to distance and scheduling conflicts.
With the existing need to start a new assembly, Lopez reached out to the Fourth Degree Master and submitted an initial proposal. Having the Master’s approval, Carlos proceeded to obtain a straw ballot list of officers and pulled together a membership list. With a 4th Degree exemplification being held in Orlando later in the month and to provide new Fourth Degree members with another assembly option, the original proposal and an officers list was submitted to Supreme in early November 2011.

A tentative approval was given via voice that an assembly was approved and now we needed to give it a name. The Master presented the List of Officers and the Membership list to Supreme and finally on February 10, 2012 the St. Isaac Jogues Assembly #3333 was approved and activated.
